Oh, gosh, are they okay? (Review)

Today we're looking at Marvel Ruins... What a weird title, what DOESN'T Marvel Ruin? Anyway, Marvel Ruins is part of an imprint titled "Alterniverse", which was about.... Alternate universes. This is obviously inspired by the book "Marvels" by Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross, however while that one was about exploring the many marvelous characters, this one is about the horrible things that could've happened to them. So, here's Tales Of The Marvels: Ruins by Warren Ellis, Cliff Nielsen and Terese Nielsen. The cover shows Phil Sheldon, the reporter from Marvels, walking around the various corpses and bodies of Marvel superheroes like Spider-Man, Kitty Pryde, Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man, and Scarlet Witch. Now I know what to recreate with all my action figures! I just need to find the "Old man with an eyepatch" figure from the latest Marvel Legends line.  The story begins with Phil witnessing how the Avengers Quinjet blew up. They died. Prepare...

4 Random Issues: THE HULK!

Aw man, I am so looking forward to this. Believe it or not, I don't need Wikipedia to tell you the story of how the Hulk was created. Stan Lee says he was actually inspired by monster movies, films like Frankenstein and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, he wanted the hero and villain to be one in the same, and he also wanted to show that the monster was actually misunderstood. So, just like with pretty much everything, he asked Jack Kirby to do everything while he added words and took 70% of the credit. So, anyway, The Incredible Hulk #1. Written by Stan Lee, drawn by Jack Kirby. The cover features the Hulk towering over Bruce Banner, look, he's huge! Everyone is just terrified of him, they're all yellow for some reason. "The strangest man of all time!!" You can tell this comic released before I was born. "Fantasy as you like it!" Gee wiz! "Is he man or monster? Or... is he both?" One thing that was always clear to me, even as a child, is that the Hulk ...

From The Archives: The Spider-Man Toilet Paper Comic

Image
Originally posted on November 3rd, 2024. A few days ago, actually. Dear reader, this is not a joke. Someone got paid to make this, someone got paid to write this comic, someone got paid to draw it, someone got paid to manufacture it, and people paid so they could have this in their homes to wipe their butts. In the 1970's, Marvel Comics was HUGE, i could've asked someone on the street if they read Marvel Comics and they would say YES, in all caps and with a comma at the end. Marvel had a lot of merchandise back then, you got your MEGOs, your Underoos, your 7-Eleven cups, all that stuff, and they all had Spider-Man & The Hulk in them because they were Marvel's TV Sensations, everyone knew about them back in the 70's thanks to the live-action TV shows and TV movies. Spider-Man could be in every room of your house, including THE BATHROOM. You ever see people talking about how the new Amazing Spider-Man comics could be used as toilet paper? Well, back in the 1970's ...

From The Archives: Gwenpool Strikes Back #2 SUCKS SHIT (Review)

Originally posted on August 26, 2024 via Wix.  Some of you may remember my review of Gwenpool Strikes Back #1 from way back in June of 2023. I remember it because of that Atop The Fourth Wall joke at the beginning of the post, I could tell you what else I said about the comic but I am definitely not looking back at my old shit. but the most important aspect of the review was that i didn't like it. Some others may remember the 17th Birthday Special, in which I did a short review of issue #2. and I really fucking hated it. But I didn't go too much into details and pretty much just wrote about how much I hate that stupid-ass character Deadpool. Well, I'm here to tell you why this comic sucks by giving you a PAGE-FOR-PAGE, PANEL-BY-PANEL (ok maybe not panel-by-panel) ANALYSIS. While also reviewing issue 3, because a little birdie tells me that this issue is not as bad as the first 2 hell spawns.  Comic is written by Leah Williams, and the art was made by David Baldeon. THE COVE...

From The Archives: The Spider-Plush Random Hour

Originally posted on March 6th, 2023. HELLO, Welcome to the first and maybe only edition of the Spider-Plush Random hour, i am your host, Spider-Plush (You can call me Eddie) Here’s the thumbnail  Now, you may be wondering, what is this all about? well the answer is that there are some short stories that i wanted to tell but i didn't want to make short storytime articles so i combined 2 stories and 3 random thoughts i had.  CHAPTER ONE: THE HULK First off, a little bit of history… back in 2012 i was 5 years old, my favorite super hero was the hulk and i watched all the films, all 2 of them, and i watched clips from the shows on youtube, until i came across this show called THE INCREDIBLE HULK (1982), i was like “wow this is awesome, i should watch this” until i saw the design. I don’t know what’s so scary to me about the design, everything looks fine, except for those eyes, those horrible yellow eyes, and before you say anything like “that's how he looked like in the comics” i ...
