Spiders scare the hell outta me.

Older, tall, muscular, handsome Edward found a way to read issues 46 to 58 of The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 2). Right now, it's time for issues 46 to 50. by J. Michael Straczynski again, and John Romita Jr. Again. First off, is issue 46 (DUH!), released on December of 2002.

This may look like your regular-ass Spider-Man cover, and it is, but this is drawn by Frank Cho. We need to address this artist. See, this cover is normal, but EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. there is a textless variant, he takes his time to make a cover featuring a female superheroine's ass or tits, usually with a funny joke and Spider-Gwen in the background saying "OUTRAGE!". This guy is a GOONER.

Let's begin. Spidey is pondering about how he tried to get MJ back and failed. And then tried to stop Doc Ock and also failed. He goes to sleep, only to have a weird dream about what happened in the astral plane a few issues ago. It's okay, Peter, dreams do not actually mean anything, I once dreamed that the Red-Hot Chili Peppers started relentlessly bullying me. He then opens a book about spiders, and he just so happens to find the page mentioning the Spider-Wasps, the most efficient spider-slayer, I'm sure this won't mean anything.

Over at a random alleyway, a portal opens, seems to be happening a lot these days, and a strange creature shows up... Odd. This creature is called Shathra, a tall, feminine figure with no facial features except for two bright spider eyes. I think she has a human form. She starts attacking and chasing Spider-Man because that is what Spider-Wasps do. Spidey manages to escape and go home.

Shathra (Sharon) goes to a local newspaper to say that she knows Spider-Man and his many sexual endeavors... Yes, Shathra, I too have seen that Plug-&-Play console.

The issue ends. This is essentially the same shit as issue 30. Peter talks about his life and then he finds some new mystic whateverthehell. So, I might as well give it the same rating. 8/10.

Issue 47. From January of 2003.

It's been 18 issues and we're STILL bringing up the lame ass covers, HOLY SHIT. Spider-Man swings in this issue. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY PIGEONS?

Peter Parker is at his job as a normal teacher until he watches a nearby television and watches how Sharon is publicly shittalking him, she somehow KNOWS about Peter's life and accuses him of an extramarital affair and an insatiable appetite for sex. MJ hears about this, Aunt May is now disappointed because she literally spent issues 37 to 42 trying to make Spidey's public image more positive, and now this Shathra chick comes to publish a book about Spidey's secret life and how he apparently stages battles in order to appear like a sex machine. Many people would be able to debunk these claims, but okay.

Say, remember Ezekiel? Well, it turns out that the cover of issue 32 WASN'T just for nothing, Shathra is actually a damn ancient creature.

Spider-Man is obviously fed up with this bullshit, you can always tell what emotions he's feeling because JRJR draws his mask in the same damn expression, but I can always tell when he's pissed. He enters a nearby news station where they're interviewing Sharon and starts beating the shit out of her on LIVE TELEVISION. Oh, at least they managed to film her turning into a horrible creature.

The city looks like a warzone for like the third time in this run, and Spider-Man takes a cab to wherever the hell that place is and he's now covered in spiders.

The issue ends. Spidey is fucked. 9/10 because this is essentially the same shit as issue 33.

Well, time for issue 48. Published February of 2003... I look at the dates through SpiderFan and NOT the Marvel website.

This cover gives you the impression that maybe Mysterio is gonna show up. But he doesn't.

I'll try to keep the recap as short as possible. Spidey is seen covered in spiders by a few people, Ezekiel Sims included, and he takes Peter to some place after a flashback to how the spider that bit Peter was like magic or something.

So, we're in NOT New York and Ezekiel takes Peter to a place with a giant spider statue so he can finally beat Shathra's ass once and for all. Well, seeing how this is the last issue of the storyline (Not the last issue of the post, mind you), Shathra is defeated... Though she does come back. The media has agreed that Spidey's accusations were all a stupid ass hoax.

Meanwhile, MJ is packing her bags because she's coming back to New York, and I'm even more scared for their reunion as I was last time.

And just because this issue was actually not like anything in the previous storylines, I'll give it a big ol' 9/10.

I'm terrified to open this next issue, which was published on March of 2003.

This is the cover by JRJR, it's the same shit but actually kind of unique.

This recap is actually gonna be SHORTER Than the last issue.

Ezekiel tells a story about spiders and then makes Peter go back home... Instead, he goes to LA to find MJ while MJ goes to New York to find Peter. Rookie mistake. But before they go back home disappointed, the planes both get grounded at the same airport and Peter finds MJ and they both decide to talk right then and there before the flights take off.

Well, this was sure interesting. 8/10, there was a lack of Spider-Man in this issue, but as stated in a few issues reviewed before this one, that's okay.

You can tell Peter was exhausted and getting old in this storyline because he starts the storyline without a beard and now he's growing one. AND IT LOOKS HORRIBLE, SHAVE THAT THING. This is why I don't read Ultimate Spider-Man (vol. 4 or 5 or whatever the fuck)

NEXT. Published April of 2003.

Another issue I'll probably never be able to own because this is an iconic cover. Well, this one was drawn by J. Scott Campbell.

The issue begins with MJ and Peter talking... And then Dr. Doom shows up, a guy tries to bomb the airport, and Captain America is also there. What the fuck. Peter and Cap are fighting against Doom and the robots that were also there all while Peter is also talking to Mary Jane. The villain is defeated and the storyline and TPB... ARE OVER. Peter and MJ are going home and Peter is hopefully going to shave.

10/10. It had a lot of cool action, a little bit of humor, and a lot of heart in the dialogue and story.

Well, this is definitely the masterclass of comic book creation. Thanks, JMS and JRJR and all the guys making the covers.

Next time: MORE OF THIS.
