12 Days of Eddiemas. (DAY 3): SONIC 3 HYPE!!!!

SONIC! He's blue, fast, wears red shoes, he's got everything, and he's got a new movie. AND SHADOW IS THERE! I gotta watch it! And that's what I'm gonna do tomorrow when I sit my ass in the theater for 2 hours to watch Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

I was a big fan of the first 2 movies because I like Sonic. No other reason. I guess the filmmaking was good and the effects were pretty impressive and cool. And we can only hope the third movie lives up to those standards, and I know it will because it's made by the same people.

Now, I know who Sonic is, I know who Tails is, and I even know who Knuckles is, but I also know who Shadow is. 50 years ago, at the Space Colony ARK, Professor Gerald Robotnik was making the Ultimate Lifeform, it was gonna be a lizard but then he decided to make a hedgehog instead.  This hedgehog can do fucking anything, he can use his rocket shoes to go fast, he can talk, he can be the coolest ever, OMG HE'S SO COOL! And I expect this movie to show audiences just how cool he can be.

This post would be pretty stupid and unnecessary (Like all of them) if I just ended it after 3 paragraphs... Shit, I have to get this out TOMORROW, I need to make this at least 4 paragraphs with some interesting insight, so I know what I'm gonna do... STRETCH! What else can I talk about that is at least slightly related to the main topic of the post? I'm gonna do a short review of Sonic The Hedgehog for the Sega Genesis.

Sonic The Hedgehog was created in 1991 to compete with Super Mario... Mario ended up being more successful in the long run but Sonic still managed to become a big part of video game history and he's still got games coming out to this day. But where did it all begin? Well, obviously it was the game released for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive entertainment systems, which had the title "Sonic The Hedgehog".

I think the guys at SEGA and Sonic Team have really outdone themselves with this one. Sonic The Hedgehog is really fun to play with, he's fast, he jumps, he collect rings and he destroys robots with his spikes. Believe it or not, this game actually has a story, the evil Dr. Robotnik has captured a lot of animals and he's put them in a lot of robots and capsules, and it's Sonic's job to free the cute little creatures from the clutches of that fat fuck. The premise is good and the execution is alright, I guess.

Through the game, you have to go through 6 stages, Green Hill, Marble Zone, Spring Yard, Labyrinth, Starlight & Scrap Brain. They're all pretty fun and they all have pretty good music playing as you run around getting rings and bashing robots. I'd say something about the controls but they're pretty simple, you move with the D-Pad or Joystick or whatever the hell you're playing with, and you jump with the action buttons, which are A, B & C in the original Sega controller... Unless you got the controller with X, Y & Z for fighting games, but you don't really use those in Sonic.

There's 6 Special Stages that you can access at the end of most levels by getting 50 rings and entering a big ring at the end of the zone, if you get the Chaos Emeralds, you can unlock the GOOD ending. The game will make you feel bad for not getting the emeralds, but it's a nice replay value thing to do.

So, yeah, Sonic is cool. The end. 10/10.
