The Game Must Go On. (Part 2)
PREVIOUSLY: I, Barry Eddie, joined a club with weirdos, some shit happened. The show must go on.
As I write these poems in the game, I notice that the words are slowly becoming edgier for some unknown reason, I mean, there's some normal words sprinkled in there, but they're like, weird. Well, anyway, it is time for another dull day of poem sharing... Cherry blossoms in the spring, can you hear me sing- Wrong game, Edward.
Sayori is STILL not used to me being in the club, c'mon, it's been 3 days! Will Barry buy her a snack? I dunno, why would they? Broke bitch always wanting me to buy her shit, c'mon, get a job. She had money in her purse all along... Woooow. This game is fuuuuun. I have yet to review a single aspect of this game other than the lame cutscenes and lame character dialogue, but that's because the interesting parts have NOT happened yet.
Yuri shows up or some shit, I'm really not paying attention because I have to write and read the game at the same time. She teaches a lesson to Sayori about how she's just gonna have to deal with hunger after pulling that stunt earlier. You must suffer the consequences of your own actions.
Something smacks Sayori... And it is.... A COOKIE? A GIANT COOKIE WRAPPED IN PLASTIC? PERRY THE GIANT COOKIE WRAPPED IN PLASTIPUS? Natsuki just made cookies for us, wow, bet those motherfuckers at the Anime club are real jealous because we get food and THEY DON'T. Wow, these cookies are so good, wish I could fucking see them!
Sayori thinks Natsuki's cookie looks real good... THEY ARE THE SAME DAMN COOKIES, OH MY GOD. I'd say something about the pacing of this game being slower than a frigid atom cloud, but I'm sure this is just the normal pacing of a story and I'm just being obnoxious... Wait, where is Monika? Her being late is unheard of... Now is the time to start asking questions, who are you? Why are you reading this? Why am I playing this? Where did Monika go? Did she ever exist?
Oh, never mind, she's here. She chose the club over her boyfriend after all... She has a boyfriend? Oh, it's that anarchist duck guy. Oh, and she's taking piano lessons. Maybe, she can play some good music like... Peso Pluma, or 100 gecs songs. My mom is silently judging me playing this game... PC is in the living room, remember?
Well, it looks like everyone has already settled down... I guess I'll talk to Yuri since she is the only character that doesn't make me want to die yet. She seems to be reading the same book she gave to me, but once she shows up on screen, she is reading JACK SHIT, what, is she just imagining the book? WHY DOES SHE ALWAYS HAVE HER HANDS ON HER BACK? What kind of weirdo has 2 copies of the same book? (NOTE: I own multiple copies of Spider-Man 800), what is that book about, anyway¡ Well, it's titled Portrait of Markov, with an eye symbol on the cover... I'm sure it's normal.
It's about a girl and her sister and how life is really strange afterwards and her life starts to fall apart after moving in with her sister.... That's a bit dark, but it's the kind of shit you find for less than a dollar on Google Play Books.
Yuri is really shy and reclusive, so it's easy to forget things like what kind of books she likes... She reminds me of Steve Ditko, just without the strange political and philosophical views... Why does Yuri feel the need for apologizing for rambling? Well, that's because she is a human being and not a robot from the future.
Man, literature is weird. CAN WE FINALLY MOVE ON? Well, it seems like we're gonna be reading this book alongside Yuri. I HATE reading with someone, they don't have the same mental wavelengths as me and we don't make fun of shit.
Oh, apparently the game remembers to SHOW, NOT TELL, and shows us a new thing on the screen, which is our POV of reading with Yuri... I am sick of the piano music playing, can someone tell Monika to shut up?
Hey, the main characters in this book remind me of Yuri... This will not be used for jokes later. Well, no more reading for us. C'mon, when can I show off my poem? I worked hard on it! I even cherry picked the lame words I was gonna use.
Oh. My. God. THE POEMS ARE LONGER THIS TIME? Sheesh, I HATE reading, which is why I made these posts for people to read... Though, something is off, and I'll explain later. But I swear to God, this girl in this literature club NEEDS to get better handwriting, pretty looking doesn't mean understandable. Her poem is about feeding a raccoon. She does bring up a good point regarding guilty pleasures, for example, my guilty pleasures are doing awesome backflips when the teacher isn't looking, reading DC comics and playing this game. Embrace your weirdness.
I will say it again, the music in this game is good and well-made, but it gets annoying after a while.
Sayori LIKES our poem, and on other news, water is wet. Though she also brings up a good point about how literature must make you feel things in order to be good... I guess the anger I felt reading Gwenpool Strikes Back was just the comic telling me how GOOD it is. She also tells us that it's okay to like sad literature, which reminds me of a little lesson from a Deadpool story in Marvel Comics #1000, it's okay to be sad every once in a while. Her poem is about bottles, and how you shouldn't always bottle up your feelings, open up to your close friends.
Natsuki once again tells us how things should be simple and not cryptic... Y'know, I think both work fine, it's okay to have stories that make you think about the deeper meanings and it's also okay to have simple straight-to-the-point stories, there is just no definitive way to make a story... My new motto comes from this quote, "Well, everyone has their own opinion, but my opinion is the best opinion.", thanks Natsuki. Her poem is about ignorance and shallow views... Starting to notice a theme today... Keeping secrets... Guilty pleasures... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Am I looking too much into things?
Well, only one more person left, and it is none other than Monika. Apparently, MY poem was very metaphorical... Would be nice if I could read my own poem... Though something is incredibly off about her poem, you see, it's titled "Save me", it mentions red, green and blue at one point and at the very bottom of the page, it says "Load me"... Well, this must be the 4th wall breaking jokes people love so much... What kind of paper is this, it's very long! Very cryptic... Just how I like my... Well, pretty much everything.
Monika's writing tip of the day: Sometimes you'll find yourself facing a difficult decision... When that happens, don't forget to save your game! You never know when you might change your mind or when something unexpected might happen... Huh. Interesting way to look at things. Is this tip even about writing? It kind of is, in this age with Google Docs and Microsoft Word.
Well, it's time to plan something incredible, we need to plan something for the festival in order to appeal to everyone and make people join this god forsaken club. Our last-minute idea is dramatically performing poems. Dude, I'd kill to see Natsuki perform her poems. Sayori has already designed a poster, wow, it looks so good, I wish I could fucking see it.
Gosh, these girls are all staring into my soul probably waiting for me to slip up and say something silly, but golly, I will not, I'm a smart perfect bean and will always say the right thing. Sure, we'll all participate, I mean, there's only 5 of us. Yuri says and I quote "This club is seriously going to be the death of me...".
Well, looks like we're gonna have to be practicing these poems every day. Kinda how I rehearse performing these stupid little blog posts sometimes. As Monika recites her poem, everyone goes quiet, and the crowd goes... Mild. We all applaud, wow, what an incredible poem that she just recited while staying completely and totally still. I swear to God, I am going to skip this.
So, we all recite our poems, they're all good and shit.
That's it for today, we'll be writing more poems later and shit, but just a little reminder in my head tells me that MONDAY IS THE BIG DAY. Well, I walk home with Sayori and stuff, but she's way quieter today... So, I ask her what's up and she tells me pretty much nothing, but she says nothing in a really cute way that makes me want to boop her nose.
She then asks me a tough question, would I walk home with Sayori, or Yuri? Shit, I don't want to break her little heart, but I also think Yuri is HOT!... Y'know what? I'm gonna be nice and say that I will gladly walk home with Sayori... I guess walking home with BOTH of them wasn't an option.
So, the next day, Monika is late again because of that damn piano. Wait... Where IS Sayori? Whatever, let's focus on the event... Nevermind, my character just asked the question, it turns out she is all the way over there! And she's almost falling asleep. Obviously, the character that has known her for many years would be asking if she's alright.
I approach Monika, I ask her if she knows what's up with Sayori recently, I mean, this is unheard of from little Sayori, why is she like this? Where is the silly? Maybe there's something on her mind... Could this be? Is there going to be DRAMA in this game about 1 guy and 4 girls? Maybe Monika should try talking to her. Well, after saying more cryptic shit, we finally go to work on this festival thing that is happening ON MONDAY! DON'T FORGET.
Maybe I'm going crazy. Why does it feel like I'm being watched? Well, Yuri was just perving on me, as if I was even just a little bit cute, c'mon, get better standards. So, she talks to me about... Where the hell is this conversation going? Wow, this game really does depict the "Conversation with my classmates" experience perfectly.
Allow me to describe what I think of these characters again.
Sayori, a fairly cute girl that is silly and funny and probably one of the best people I've met in this game, which is why me and my character get increasingly worried about her when she starts acting NOT silly.
Natsuki is like a little child, short, silly, and somehow still smarter than I'll ever be.
Monika is slowly becoming more mysterious and more suspicious in my eyes, what is she hiding? What does she know? That, my friend, is what we're gonna find out later. She somehow becomes very passive-agressive every time.
Yuri is not as mysterious or scary as Monika, but she's still suspicious.
MC, aka Barry, aka Eddie, me... Well, I know myself and I know that I am not suspicious in the slightest.
Well, we do some reading with Yuri again. But she has a request... For tea. So, we get the most exciting scene in the entire game... THE TEA MAKING SCENE!!! Monika interrupts us, but Yuri tells her to piss off. Once in the hallway, she realizes that she spoke without thinking... I don't like how the game went quiet in this scene.
So, the music comes back for the track titled... Eh, I don't know. Well, glad Barry is there to comfort Yuri when she feels mad at herself. LET'S JUST GO FOR THE FLIPPING TEA. And what the fuck is oolong tea? I bet this tea is real stupid. Well, at least I'm glad to see that Yuri is expressing herself a little bit more. Say, should we sit on the floor today? Eh, I don't know.
I'm still kinda worried and kind of impatient. Well, we slide closer so we can read... I mean, it makes sense, I wouldn't be able to read if I was thousands of miles away. Oh, and I had candy, which is cool, I love that shit. Here's something we haven't seen in a while... A new visual! Here is Yuri's face, wow, ain't she cute? Well, she eats the flipping chocolate, and she reacts like I just slapped her, c'mon, it's chocolate, no one says no to chocolate. I REALLY WANT TO READ POEMS TODAY.
Monika interrupts our cute moment to read poems. And we didn't even eat the tea... Well, at least we finally got to see the chocolate instead of the game just telling me it exists. This will never be brought up again.
Some shit happens and Yuri shows me her poem, look, I just skipped through this part.
Sayori is being incredibly critical of my poem. But it was still alright... How does she know I looked up the poemwords for Yuri? Well, during this conversation, she appears to be less down, which is always good... She tells me that she's just a bit tired today, but other than that, she's fine... Oh, and she will be going home earlier today... Uhm... Odd, but I suppose it's understandable... She didn't show me her poem.
Natsuki's poem is the same shit with probably the same writing criticisms. She also didn't show me her poem because I specifically wrote it for Yuri and not her... Wooooow.
So, Monika is asking me and nagging me about the festival, I roll my eyes at everything she says. She reads my poem and thinks it's good... I could never be a famous writer because then I would be confused if I ever got mixed reviews, is my product good or bad? I wouldn't sleep that night because I'd be thinking about that. How am I supposed to know what these girls like? I met them less than a week ago! She tells me about Yuri, who knows what goes inside that head, I'm not sure... She suspects that I may be into Yuri... No shit, that's the route I'm going for.
Wait a minute...Yuri has a husbando? Ridiculous, I could never have a crush on a fictional character.
Monika's poem is about the lady who knows everything... I love foreshadowing.
Monika's writing tip of the day: Blah blah blah find people who enjoy writing or whatever the fuck, I'm still very skeptical about this game.... Wait a second, Natsuki noticed something... Monika said something strange! She deviated from her catchphrase! Woooow, why is everyone so... Weird? Nooo ooonee knooooowwwws.....
So, they ask where Sayori is and I tell them she went home. Everything and everyone is suspicious and strange today, myself included. So, what are we doing this weekend? Well, Monika and Natsuki will be making pamphlets and cupcakes, and Yuri will be... Making banners! Yeah! And I will be helping her.
These girls are all talking, all while Monika's green eyes stare into my flipping soul.
Whatever, I walk home and end this part of the post.
I'm so glad I exist purely so I can read this
