The Amazing Double Feature (Review)
Last time in the Amazing Spider-Man: Eh idk.
Time to look at issues 33 and 34 of The Amazing Spider-Man vol. 2. By J. Michael Straczynski and drawn by John Romita Jr.
This is the cover for issue 33, Spider-Man is chillling with our pal Ezekiel and stuff and things, but it seems like Ezekiel has told Spidey that he has a bug on his arm.

The comic begins with Spidey trying to fight against Morlun, but none of his punches seem to actually harm him. Morlun manages to throw him across the street. Morlun tells Peter that he does not get tired, he doesn't give up, and he eventually will catch him.
What follows is a pretty damn good fight scene, Peter keeps trying to hit Morlun but nothing seems to work. It seems like Spider-Man is about to die, so Peter runs away... But then Morlun shows up again! He wasn't lying when he said that once he found Spidey, he would always be able to find him. He manages to run away from Morlun and goes to Ezekiel for help, but it's just too late for him. Peter is going to die and there's nothing anyone can do about it. NOTHING.
Not much happened in this issue, at least not enough for funny jokes or commentary, but JMS has done a good job on his first story of his run, if this is storyline number one, imagine story number 10! It's just amazing. 9/10... How did this storyline make people cry?
Issue's over. But the story goes on! Time for issue 34.The cover shows Spider-Man breaking through a web. Not much to comment on, but I will say something about the covers of this run. Before "The Other", most covers of Amazing Spider-Man from this era (2001-2005) really just depicted Spider-Man swinging or doing something cool. I find that a little lazy, but I will say that I like the vibes.
Ezekiel doesn't help Peter, so Petey Boy decides to just fight Morlun, and if he dies, he dies. Morlun is threatening citizens and causing lots of destruction, and Spidey isn't gonna take this well, so he keeps trying to attack Morlun in order to make him get away from the citizens. After once again failing to overpower him, Spidey runs away because... That's pretty much the only thing left to do.
He takes a quarter from a scummy person pretending to be a homeless blind person, and he uses that quarter to call in sick at work. Morlun is attacking citizens once again, so Spidey tries his best to defend the citizens of NYC. He runs away AGAIN to call Aunt May for a bit, but he runs out of time. And whaddya know, Morlun is back! It looks like Spider-Man is doomed! But then, in a shocking twist, Ezekiel has a change of heart and decides to help Spidey kick some Morlun ass!
However, Morlun manages to actually take Ezekiel's power and kill him... Nooo, he was my favorite character... Damn... Turns out Ezekiel had enough Spider-Power/energy or whatever to actually satiate Morlun's hunger for a bit. Ezekiel's body falls in the water, and Spidey swims for over 20 minutes to see if he can find his body, but there's nothing.
Using the little time he has until Morlun is hungry again, Peter takes a bit of Morlun's blood from the damage he took on the fight, and he realizes that his blood is an amalgam of every kind of cell, purest DNA ever, Peter decides to make his blood NOT pure by using radiation, which might stop Morlun once and for all. The issue ends.
I imagine how surreal this storyline must've been for readers back when this came out, one minute you have Spidey going on a few adventures that aren't really remarkable and memorable, and now you have stories that make you question Spider-Man and why you love his stories. JMS is cooking with this storyline, and I cannot wait to see how this first storyline ends. John Romita Jr.'s artwork is so good, but I do see some of the criticisms, and I feel like his modern work isn't really as good, but his artwork on this storyline is pretty good. 9/10.
One more issue left, and I know it's gonna be good...
One thing that I'm wondering is if I should review the entire JMS run, because I own quite a few issues... But I don't really wanna review anything from the Civil War era... Fuck it, I will review the entire thing, and no one will stop me.
